Where Were You On 9/11?

Where were you on 9/11?
Where were you when the first tower was hit?
Questions that has been asked many, many times.

Everyone knows where they were at that exact moment on September 11th, 2001.

I was 14 and a half years old. I didn't even have my drivers license yet.
It was a Tuesday.
I was ending my second hour math class at my high school.
I remember the teacher.
I remember the kids who sat in front of and behind me in that class.
But most of all I remember watching that plane hit the first tower on replay over and over.
My mind couldn't comprehend what I was seeing.

The class was over and we switched to our third hour. I had computer class next just down the hall. I remember the buzz in the hallway was different this day than any other day. I still couldn't comprehend what was happening. I understood ... but didn't. The TV was turned on and we watched the second plane hit and it finally clicked in my heart. I needed to go home.

My memories are gone until it's fifth hour. I was in History class, and we went to the library to watch the coverage.

Finally I got home and found my mom on the back porch holding two of our daycare babies. The babies on her lap were nervous and frazzled. It was crazy to see how it effected them .. even not knowing and understanding the horror going on that day. My mom said she had been strong all day, but they still knew something was wrong. My dad got home and hugged my mom and she finally cried.

This is what I remember of September 11th. I was scared beyond belief when I finally let it all sink in. I didn't know anyone in New York at the time. I wasn't scared for someone in one of those towers. I just was scared for what this meant for our country. Our always strong, stand tall country.

Please remember your day. Remember to never forget. Remember those first responders, the people they saved, tried to save ... and all of their families. Remember those who didn't make it our of those towers and all they gave for our country, without even knowing it. Please also remember all of our men and women who have ever served over seas, as a direct result of 9/11.

I didn't write this today because I am a Marine Wife now ... I write this today because everyday I see the signs that Marine families hang on the fences and post along the streets welcoming their heroes and their Marine's home from being overseas .. and those "Welcome Home" signs touch my soul in a way I can't even explain. On September 11th ... and for all the years there after, there are so many families who can't hang a welcome home sign for their loved ones...

FLASHMOB for Emma and Jimmy's Anniversary!

My sister and bother in law were married 4 years ago, June 14th! {Flag Day!}
He was being deployed to Afghanistan. They had a nice courthouse wedding and dinner afterwards to celebrate their marriage but had to forgo a traditional wedding because of the circumstances.

So ... my aunt had the idea to do a flashmob and surprise them on their anniversary this year! We've always wanted to do something special for them ... so here it was!

Here we all were at the studio practicing the choreography! Many night were spent practicing to get this thing Jusssst right!

We all waited not so  patiently around the corner to get going! We had to hide so it was a surprise. What's a flashmob without the flash?!

It all went down in Downtown Plymouth. We had a BLAST. You can't really see them, but my sister and brother in law are sitting on the fountain and everyone is kind of facing them doing the dance! First all the dancers were doing it and at the end our friends and family came around and you could see E&J's faces change.. "whaaaaaaat???"

Emmas face: "whaattt??!!!"

Tons of family and friends came to celebrate with them in the backyard!

 Cheers!

Best Christmas Ever? Best Christmas Ever!

This Christmas was more than we could ask for and I'll tell you why. Our family has been growing over the last few years and my parents now have four kids instead of two girls. We have the best parents we could ever ask for who have welcomed our guys into our family and love them almost as much as we do. Having everyone all together made this the best Christmas yet.

We had a Merry little Christmas, if I do say so.
I've never felt so blessed.

Project Life (July 4 - July 10)

Welcome!

The first part of this week we were in California and I'm actually missing TWO pictures this week (shame on me!) but hey ... such is life.

Happy 4th of July from Angel Stadium! Anehiem, California! Tigers vs. Angel's game in California - awesome!
This flag was the size of the entire outfield once they were finished spreading it out .. it was incredible.

Tuesday Jimmy's buddies came back into town from their weekend away. They had so much alcohol left over that they couldn't bring it on base! Here it all is ... being stored for them ;)

Wednesday we flew all day ... got home and went straight to Jeff's softball game. No pics but I will do something cool with our boarding passes in the album.

Thursday I took Ella to get her hair cut at Snip It's on our day together. She was SO good and kept saying "its soooo relaxing" ... dude your four years old and hilarious.

Friday I stamped, addressed and mailed all of my invites for a show I have scheduled for the end of the month - with the help of my mom of course :) We had fun doing it and now these pretty invites will stand out in the mail!

Saturday Andy, Joann, Mason and Taelor had us over to their new house for a House Warming Party/BBQ!
Here they are as a family in front. SO cute.

Sunday - no picture can you believe this!?! Sunday we went to Ryan and Lisa's BBQ, Kohls and cleaned Jeffs room. We went swimming until midnight and he finally had to go home because he had to work the next day! (Oops  - we stayed up too late)

Project Life (June 27 - July 3)

Hey! Here I am playing catch up .. we were out of town for the 4th Of July! It was GREAT!

Monday night I babysat Maddie and Cullen last minute - awesome!! Here they are brushing their teeth before bed.

Tuesday I ran errands almost all day. I made my mom breakfast, took dad the lunch he forgot on the table, took mom to this Re|Purpose store she has been wanting to check out, went to the bank ... etc. then it was time for the POOL :)

Wednesday, our friend and my hairdresser gave me tickets to the Tigers game! She has season tickets and couldn't make it to this game and didn't want them to go to waste! We stayed until the end (loosing) and even got to see Don Kelly's first (and most likely only) Major League appearence as a PITCHER! Sweetness.

Thursday I had the pleasure of hanging out with these lovely ladies. It was my Thursday with the girls and this week we had a guest :) Chloe hung out with us we did a whole list of things: Bank, Park, The Green Store, Lunch with friends and swam  ... over all - a VERY good day!

Friday was the day we packed and got on a plane to California! *no picture*

Saturday we woke up in California and got breakfast near downtown San Clemente .. we got a personalized tour (from Jimmy) of the base and then hit the beach!

Sunday we hit the beach at sunset - I can't remember what we did specifically that day ... but it was FUN!
note: Yes - I know Jeff is back there ...

Here are a couple of extra journaling photos I'm going to include in addition to my daily pics!

I'm linking up SUPER late ... but check out the other Project Life Tuesday participants HERE
